The occupational therapist helps patients to adapt to their disabilities
- You are equivalent to a skills coach (backfield coach, quarterback coach, line coach)
- You train patients to perform the activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Dressing
- Eating
- Bathing
- May require special equipment or adaptive devices such as hand splints (above picture)
- Develop a treatment plan with milestones
- Communicate your assessment and plans to the Case Manager and also with the team through periodic huddles.
